The Wall of Names is the central monument of the park. The names of the fallen heroes of the Israeli armored corps from the Independence War to the present are etched in the structure. It is constructed of silver colored metal plates to symbolize the famous poem by Natan Alterman – “We are the silver plate, that the Jewish state was given on“. The names are engraved in chronological order, grouped according to the wars, and are listed without rank, to emphasize that in death, we are all equal. Between every name, there is a period. Where multiple members of a single family have fallen there are no periods between the names. The Plaza in front of the wall is used for memorial services, including Memorial Day (observed the day before Independence Day). Many guests come to the Plaza to commemorate fallen friends and families and lay a wreath.
