The Gate of Valor
“True hero,
Labors for good,
Suffers and acts,
Sacrifices himself to the dangers of war,
For the benefits of others”
-Aristotle
When walking through the Gate of Valor, one is overwhelmed with emotion. Crowded ad dark, the floor of the room is made from a tank turret. A memorial candle, with the scent of a burnt tank, is present and the ceiling is intentionally left incomplete – all to symbolize the fallen. Eight screens project continuous photos of all the thousands of armored corps fallen heroes, with battlefields as background. It takes approximately three hours to view all of the Fallen. Some soldiers have no photos. These are primarily soldiers from the War of Independence who survived the Holocaust and have no known family. The Armored Corps remembers them for those of their lost loved ones who cannot.
